When I read the thing we were supposed to do I was like "mashups?" What in the world??? But after exploring I learned that they were a mix of several sites or applications. I especially loved the puzzle. It was cool to upload a picture and then press a button and I got a puzzle. You can even order a puzzle of the picture!! What I also thought was cool was the magazine cover. This would be great to in the library of a character in a book. The trading card is another great application that a student could do of themselves or of a character in a story. These mashups are great for the classroom and I can't wait to try them out :) Here is a trading card that I made of me :)

Thing #5: Explore Flickr
For thing #5 I had to explore flickr. I was intrigued by this because I have heard of flickr and always wondered what in the world is it! I was excited when I saw that thing #5 was all about flickr. As I looked around on the website I learned that it was a database basically that people can put photos on and share them with other people. They can group the photos and put them in sets. They can tag the photos so when someone is searching for photos under a certain tag then their photo will come up. They also have a creative commons so a person would have to be aware of the rights for the photo. It is also great because you can meet people with the same interest as you do. You can keep your family informed of what is going on in your life and they can comment on the photos! I think this is a great website if you have a love of taking photos and would like to share them with the world! Here is a photo that I found that was uploaded onto flickr by wade from Oklahoma. It is of a recreation of the Laura Ingalls Wilder's home that I can use with my Little House in the Big Woods literature unit.

Setting up my blog and creating an avatar
It was a lot easier to create a blog and avatar then I thought! I really enjoyed getting to create an avatar and make it look like what I wish I looked like :) I forgot that I already had an avatar created and just got to change what she looked like. I look forward to looking at others in my class and commenting on what they have to say :)
7 ½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners
I have always thought of myself as a lifelong learner, if I wasn't I wouldn't be getting a masters right? Well that is what I thought before I listened to the power point presentation of 71/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners. I realized that I needed to be doing these things in order to truly be a life long learner. The one that I feel will be the easiest is using technology to my advantage. I am always getting on the Internet to learn new things and I use a lot of technology in my daily life and teaching. The one that I think will be the most difficult will be viewing problems as challenges. When have I a problem sometimes I get aggravated easily and have a hard time solving the problem. Now I need to look at every problem as a challenge and try not to get so "worked up" about the problem and try to solve it and look at it as a learning experience. I also learned that I teach these aspects to my students and I really need to take them out to recess more often :)
